We position our hearts with gratitude and we stay focused on the Lord and what He is doing and not on what the enemy is doing. We position our hearts to pray for our leaders, our pastors and ministers of the gospel and also our government officials who serve our nation. We pray for open doors for the gospel to be preached. The Holy Spirit gives us the function to pray and gives us the utterance to boldly proclaim the gospel with demonstration and power!

“Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart. Pray for us, too, that God will give us many opportunities to speak about his mysterious plan concerning Christ. As Christians the Lord cautions us to be alert! We are living in the world but He wants us to live separated from the world. He encourages us to stay in the Spirit in the place of prayer. As we pursue the Lord in our prayers, we are compelled to pray for believers everywhere.This is what keeps the church strong. We create a chain of grace when we stay alert in the place of prayer.

“Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.” Ephesians 6:18 NLT 📖

There is much work to be done in order for the church to grow. When our hearts are in love with the Lord then naturally we will want to serve Him. We want to put our hope and confidence in Him, and we do it with rejoicing. Because we know He saved us and put His Spirit inside of us, our desire then, is for others to experience His love and mercy. He does not tell us that trouble will not come but instead encourages us to learn patience in the middle of trouble.

“Never be lazy, but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically. Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying.” Romans 12:11-12 NLT 📖

The Bible never said that we do not know how to pray. As children many of us knelt at our bedside and were taught how to pray at an early age. What the Bible says here, is that we do not always know what to pray for. When we yield to the Holy Spirit, He intercedes through us. Our part is to yield to Him and allow Jesus the intercessor to pray through us by His Spirit. Praying in the Spirit flows once you have been Baptized in the Holy Spirit. If you have not received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, He is only a prayer away.

“In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.” Romans 8:26-27 NIV 📖

The Bible clearly teaches us to pray to the Father in the name of Jesus. We pray to the Father because every good and perfect gift comes from Him.We pray in the name of Jesus because He defeated Satan. He conquered sin and the grave. He took the keys to the kingdom of heaven away from Satan and then He rose from the grave. He gave the keys to us..His church! Jesus is the victorious King, and there is power released when we pray in the authority of His name. For every name that is named must bow its knee to the name and authority of Jesus Christ!
